Life is Sweet (Potatoes)

Today I thought I’d give y’all a break from the house drama (we’ve just been wading through deep cleaning anyways, so that’s boring!) to do some general sharing of music/photos/recipes/books/blogs that you might find interesting!

“The One That Got Away” -The Civil Wars
“San Francisco” -The Mowgli’s
“Lost and Found” -Katie Herzig
“If I Loved You” -Delta Rae

“Had to evacuate bc the house smells like gas & @doubleC_93 broke our wifi within 10 minutes of getting it so things could be going better.”

(Ed. note: The gas leak and wifi have since been fixed!)

A lot of sweet potatoes. And black beans. The two are a delicious combo.

Recipe: This sweet potato, black bean and kale skillet recipe came from my healthy-eating muse, Gwenyth Paltrow. I substituted spinach for kale and put it over a whole grain tortilla with avocado and cilantro. I would definitely make this again!

I love the plaid pattern on the ceiling!!

Through the Keyhole: A Memoir (CAAKE house shenanigans)

-The Everygirl blog. Check out this article. Jealousy is something I find myself struggling with a lot and this helped me put things in perspective!
Citygram Magazine.  If you live in Austin, you MUST read this weekly digital mag! It has the most flawless iPad integration of any magazine I read on my iPad. Not to mention the fun articles and incredible photos. And it’s free.

-The Forty Days of Dating blog (shout-out to Elizabeth for showing this to me). Don’t start reading it because you won’t be able to stop. The basic story is two artists who have been friends for a while and decide to experiment with dating each other for forty days since their other relationships always fail. It’s a fascinating day by day view into how each partner views situations differently, analyzes the other’s actions and every day proves how important good communication is. They did the experiment back in March and have been posting the recaps each day this summer. It’s almost over and I can’t wait to see how it turns out! (And the graphic design is incredible so at least look for that)

The Last Season by Eric Blehm thanks to my friend Eddie’s recommendation!

From the website: “THE LAST SEASON TELLS THE INSPIRING, POIGNANT TRUE STORY OF THE LIFE AND MYSTERIOUS DISAPPEARANCE OF JAMES RANDALL MORGENSON WHO, over the course of 28 summers spent in California’s Sierra Nevada Mountains, became arguably the most celebrated ranger in the National Park Service’s most adventurous unit. For the solitary, introspective Morgenson, the job was a calling, and he became fiercely devoted to protecting the wilderness he loved from the backcountry visitors, and those visitors from the wilderness. But the intense isolation and a series of personal setbacks took their toll, and when Morgenson vanished without a trace, many suspected suicide or foul play.”

Have a lovely day!
